Before ordering a wall-mounted shower set, identify where the hot and cold supplies point. A visible mixer body does not tell you whether the product connects to wall-facing outlets or upward-facing exposed pipes. Confirm the connection layout before comparing colours, head shapes or the number of water outlets.
Two questions hidden inside the word “exposed”
Buyers and product listings may use “exposed” to describe the visible shower hardware, the supply pipes or both. For a clear purchase specification, separate them: where is the mixer mounted, and in which direction does it connect to the water supplies?
Our ZT-DDYZ record describes a visible wall-mounted mixer connected to concealed supplies with wall-facing outlets. The ZT-DDMZZS record instead depicts upward-facing connections from exposed pipes. These are different layouts even though both products have visible mixers and risers.P09P08
A photo of the front controls can conceal that difference. Ask for a view of the connection side and the applicable installation illustration rather than choosing solely from the front-facing hero image.
Compare dimensions at the correct location
| Product reference | Recorded supply layout | Recorded centre information |
|---|---|---|
| ZT-DDMZZS / 1048772406354 | Upward-facing connections on exposed pipes | 100–105 mm supply-pipe centre distance |
| ZT-DDYZ / 1048761778164 | Wall-facing supply outlets | 150 mm nominal; 130–170 mm adjustment with the illustrated connectors |
| TZ-XM / 1047938395554 | Wall-mounted mixer with overhead riser | 140–160 mm inlet-centre adjustment |
| Three/four-outlet range / 1049663109937 | Wall-mounted rectangular mixer arrangement | 125–165 mm adjustment with the illustrated connectors |
These figures belong to the named products and fittings. They are not interchangeable installation tolerances, and the table is not a substitute for a current installation drawing.P08P09P03P07
Measure centre-to-centre spacing at the water connections, not the overall width of the decorative body. Keep supply orientation and fittings in the record together with the numerical distance. A product can be the right colour and still be the wrong connection arrangement.
Thread size is a separate field
A nominal half-inch marking is not a complete thread designation. The H43148 record includes nominal connector sizes on its illustrated riser assembly, but does not establish a BSP/G or NPT thread standard. The same limitation applies to several other reviewed product records.P05
BSP and NPT use different thread forms; nominal size alone does not establish compatibility. Confirm the exact male and female connections and sealing method rather than forcing an apparently similar joint together.T02
This guide is for procurement review. A qualified installer should approve the actual connections, required fittings and installation conditions. Do not specify an adapter merely because a product description uses the phrase “universal interface.”
Prepare a compact installation brief
Our suggested brief has five parts: a supply-layout photograph, measured connection centres, the required thread designation, available installation space and the chosen product configuration. Include the drawing revision if the project already has one.
For adjustable risers, distinguish the adjustment dimension from the total height of the installed assembly. For example, H43148 records an 80–100 cm riser adjustment shown on the relevant illustration. That should not be silently rewritten as a universal installation height.P05
Similarly, an overhead width does not tell the installer how far the head projects from the wall. If depth, clearance or holder position matters, include it as a specific unresolved field instead of assuming it from perspective in a photograph.
Review one representative assembly before a project order
For repeated bathrooms, have the proposed configuration reviewed in a representative installation before treating it as approved for every location. The objective is to identify layout, clearance, connection and access issues while the product choice can still change.
Record what was reviewed: model, catalogue reference, configuration, drawings, connectors and any agreed accessory changes. A statement that “the shower fits” is less useful than a record identifying the actual arrangement that was accepted.
Do not convert that review into a blanket compliance claim. Applicable installation and product requirements still depend on the destination and project, and the responsible professional should determine them.
Avoid three common procurement shortcuts
The first shortcut is borrowing a dimension from a similar model. The second is treating the adjustment provided by one illustrated connector as an adjustment available with every connector. The third is approving a front-view photograph without identifying the water supplies.
Each shortcut can be prevented with a small amount of model-specific information. Keep the connection image, dimension reference and selected configuration together in the quote request so they travel with the order rather than remaining in an unrelated chat message.
Buyer questions
Does “wall-mounted” guarantee 150 mm inlet centres?
No. The reviewed catalogue includes different recorded distances and different supply orientations. Use the selected product's current drawing and fittings.P08P09P03
Does an adjustable centre distance prove the thread will fit?
No. Spacing, thread form, nominal size and sealing arrangement are separate checks.
What should I send for a product recommendation?
Send the supply-layout photo and measurements, intended model or desired functions, destination and quantity. The connection details should be reviewed before the order is approved.
